Israeli activists questioned by Israeli security service

Dear Members and Supporters,
I just returned from a GSS(Shabak) interogation. The GSS is currently calling in members of the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions to ask questions about the activities of ICAHD and warn us that the Attorney-General has determined that rebuilding demolished homes in Jerusalem is illegal. (The refused to give us the decision in writing, but we will try to obtain it.) This along with the systematic use of "Closed Military Area" orders, etc., indicates that the Israeli government is not content to shut down the activities of foreign activists (CPTer Greg Rollins was returned from the airport last night as the government backed down from its intent to deport him before responding to the High Court's demand that the government explain its decision.) but intends to shut down the activities of Israeli organizations as well. The intent is not only to stop activities which can be seen as "illegal," but to also prevent humanitarian activities, the work of Taayush to accompany children to school, etc. Ultimately, it may be that the goal is to prevent any "seeing eye." witnessing what is happening in the Occupied Territories.
We need to collectively decide on a strategy to stop this dangerous trend. I know that I personally left the interogation with a strong urge to rebuild homes.
B'Vrakha,
Arik

To have roof above one's head is a basic human right. The regulations and permissions system operated by the ministry of the interior concerning the constructions of homes has been used for decennia to prevent Israel's Palestinian citizens from constructing or enlarging their homes, any homes.
Moreover, Arab villages and towns are unable to carry out civil, private and public developments, due to interventions by the ministry of the interior. At the same time Palestinian owned lands are being confiscated for so called "public purposes" and being transferred to moneymaking "other" hands. This is not a local tendency carried out by some "evil" municipal or regional administrators, but a long term offical policy, to prevent Israel's Palestinian population from developing and realizing their basic human rights: having a roof and ownership of legally acquired lands and houses.
The policy also prevents the organised development of construction for public purposes in many villages and towns, many of which have no regcognized development plan: burocracy as a means of oppression.
The policy is nation wide, from villages in the north, through neighborhoods in Ramle, Lod and Yafo to the so-called "illegal" Bedouin settlements in the Negev area.
Having a roof above one's head is a basic human right, and fighting for this right by peaceful means such as the reconstruction of demolished houses, seems to me one of the few possible just reactions.
Civil disobedience is a moral duty, when basic human rights are being trampled on by burocratic and other means.
When the Shabak is used to "warn" activists, would that be a sign that perhaps action is having an effect or are we seeing further indications of the errosion of democracy? add your comments

Whats the big deal you say??
confiscating some one elses land and moving into his/her abode, is a violation of international law, not the re-construction of the displaced individual's home/
Well if your willing to admit taht confiscating someones land and stealing thier homes is unjust then whats all this fuss over the right of return? Let all those displaced Palestinians return to thier homes, integrate the segregate Israeli and Palestinian communities. I don't say this to be sarcastic, I say it cause it is the law. One should not demolish anothers home just as one should not steal anothers home. We are all human beings, no matter our race or creed, we are all the same in the eyes of the creator. So I agree, what IS the big deal? add your comments
