2 Palestinians arrested- and Margalit Har-shefi is free

the arrest of 2 Palestinian-Israelis raises questions about Israel's sense of justice.
print article
Two Israeli-Palestinians were arrested after "not stopping a crime". The two women were on the bus that expldoed near Zefat, and were supposedly told by the bomber of his plans, and they simply got off the bus and didn't report anything.
The question is:
What could they have reported? Could anyone have really stopped the crime? If they would have called the police, would they have been able to stop the bomber, already on the bus with his hand on the trigger?
PLease!
The Israeli sense of justice seems to be warped, if they think that these two girls are responsible, and that when they sit in jail, that will be as if the bomber would be paying for his crime.
But coming from a government who wants to punish families simply for being families of suicide bombers, and not due to any actual involvment, I am not suprised.
The government tends not to punish the guily, but rather the innocent.
And, one question to President Katsav- will you grant these "aiders" of crime a pardon like you granted Margalit Har-Shefi (the woman who knew of Yigal Amir's plans to kill, then PM, Yizhak Rabin, but didn't report the information)? Someone who actually could have prevented a crime?
I would like to see that.
Or maybe the Israeli government will Negate these two women's citizenship.
Logical.
Wave to Margalit when you see her running around freely, and remember- she could have stopped the suicide bombings that are happening now, had she simply reported her knowlage. But these two women are traitors, at least according to the police. Probably not patriotic enough. They didn't risk their own lives to maybe, with a remote chance, save other people.
Criminals. Evil people.
Arabs.
Oh- and you can wave to Rabbi Aviner, the Rabbi who called for execution of refusnicks. He is another patriot. Not like these two women, who are murderers. We will also be able to wave to Aviner when some extremist settler starts a killing rampage on refusnicks, in light of what his Rabbi, a settler himself, said. Just like Yigal Amir, who also followed extremist Rabbis.
Wave to the real patriots, and send them warm regards. add your comments

Stop Spreading Nonesense

Sometimes I just can't believe what I read here.
A woman has an encounter with a suicide bomber on a bus, who warns her that "something bad is going to happen." She takes the hint and gets off the bus, leaving the other passengers to die - and you see nothing wrong with this!
It is people like that woman who create the immense distrust that exists among Israelis toward the Arabs. And it is people like who defend them that widen the gap.
If only you or someone you love were left on that bus when the woman got off without making the least effort to avert the disaster or warn the passengers. Maybe then you would understand what an evil person you are defending. add your comments

Ben.
I asked a simple question- what could she have done? nobody really thinks that once the bomber was on the bus, that he could have been stopped.
If you read the entire story, printed in newspapers like haaretz, you will see that she did not know that the man was a suicide bomber 100%, and she thought that the man was just harrasing her.
And if she had told the bus driver, who's to say that the bomber wouldn't have just exploded then, killing her as well as the rest of the people?
Also, one of her best friends died on the bus. Also an Arab. Hence, your comment in that regard is wrong.
So, yes, I do think I have the right to say: what is her crime? Did she really not stop a tragedy, or is she just an innocent victim of a system looking for a scape goat.
I think she is being treated unfairly.
Sue me. add your comments

One does not ask if she knew 100% or what may have happened anyway. One deals with the facts. She got off the bus and did not even try to save people - even though she saved herself and her friend.
Many suicide bombings have been prevented, even at the last possible second. You seem to suggest that it is totally acceptable to hold on to information that may be the difference between life and death because one is not totally sure.
You may think this issue comes down to race, and I agree with you. If that woman were Jewish, I can assure you, she would have tried to save those people or died trying. And if not, I would condemn her evil ways just like the Arab woman who didn't care enough to even try.
It is very easy to cry scapegoat every time an Arab is arrested. What is difficult is to admit that people do bad things, even Arabs. And failing to try to save a busful of innocent people is a very bad thing.
And defending the action instead of condemning it only adds to the feeling that the Arabs are against us, and will help the suicide bombers when they get the chance.
Thanks for adding fuel to the fire. add your comments

Ben.
You would have made a wonderful Nazi. Too bad that way of thinking is now considered pase.
"If that woman were Jewish, I can assure you, she would have tried to save those people or died trying."
That is a pretty bold statement. You "assure" me?
C'mon, we all know that you are a Jewish supremist. You think Jews are better than everyone else.
Well, they aren't. They are equal.
And, yes, I stand by my statement- she is guilty of nothing. Nothing.
Go do me a favor and, with your warped sense of justice only a jewish supremist could have, arrest Yona Avroshmi, Margalit Har Shefi, and all of Baruh Goldstein's friends and family. Especially his Rabbi.
After your finished dealing with real criminals, who run around free, you can then spend all your time chasing innocent non-jews around.
oh- and go learn a little more on nazism. If you get really good you can even buy yourself a white hood and start lynching arabs in middle of the night. add your comments

This is getting embarressing, Shabtai. A grown man resorting to name calling. My 11-year old son doesn't even do that anymore. I guess he grew out of it.
Is that what you always do when they can't win on facts. I must be wrong since you called me a Nazi, huh? Listen, dignity is an over-rated trait anyway. Maybe you can still get yours back. Try to remember where you left it. add your comments

Ben you must be somewhat nuts or you just don't live life realisticly. Because its no way possible that, that lady could have saved the poor innocent people on that bus. It's easy to blame some innocent person for that tragic bombing, but how can you stop someone who is determented to kill innocent people. You see Ben it's really people like you with your jewish supremicist thoughts and Prime Minister Sharon terrorist action towards the palestian people thats gonna keep the bombs exploding. add your comments
