Israeli terrorist act: bombs planted in Palestinian school

5 March 2002

An Israeli terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the bomb which exploded in a Palestinian Primary School in Surbahir village near Jerusalem this morning, injuring ten children and two adults.

Teachers at the school alerted the Israeli police to two suspected bombs in

the school yard at 7.30 am. The police did not respond immediately, failing

to prevent the first bomb from exploding at 7.55 am. It was not until approximately 8.20 am that the Israeli police arrived.

This act comes the morning after Sharon's announcement to the Knesset and reporters that 'the Palestinians have to be hit hard', and 'Now they have to be hit'.
