Stopping Youth Violence

Youth violence is responsible for the fact that homicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for young people ages 10 to 24 years old according to the Center for Disease Control. But more shocking is the fact that homicide is the leading cause of death for African Americans and the second leading cause of death for Hispanics for youth in this age group.  But the effects of youth violence is in no means restricted to any one group of people, as The Center for Disease Control estimates the cost of youth violence exceeds $158 billion each year in the USA.

Youth for Human Rights Florida has been working with other groups. The message is the necessity to stop the violence, with a focus on gang violence through education and communities working together.  Youth for Human Rights Florida addresses the reduction of violence through simply educating youth on our 30 human rights, according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, through entertaining youth-oriented DVDs.

Often youth talk about “having rights,” but the Youth for Human Rights program gets them to not only know their 30 human rights, but to see that others have rights too, which is key to reducing violent acts and crimes.

For example some of the rights include, human Right #1 “We are all born free and equal” and human right #2 “Don’t Discriminate.” Youth for Human Rights is an organization inspired by L.Ronald Hubbard works whom said” The human rights has to be a fact not an idealistc dream”.

Youth for Human Rights Florida program consists of a youth-designed DVD of the 30 human rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “The Story of Human Rights” a powerful DVD that defines human rights of the past and today, and the evoking music video “UNITED” conveying the message against bullying and instead favoring human rights. The Human Rights Department of The Church of Scientology is a proud supporter of Youth for Human Rights International.
