Thinking with your cod-piece, TanyaFriday 28 Feb 2003

author: Rowan Berkeley

Ever since the Third International rejected Ber Borochov's application for membership, it has been apparent to almost the meanest mind that even the most ultra-Leftist forms of Zionism are incompatible with international proletarian solidarity. I can give you a precise indication of the limits here: when a certain Soviet spy ( I think his name was Uri Dan ) arrived in Israel in the 1950s, he contacted Meretz ( or Mapam as it was called then ) and they immediately turned him in to the Shin Bet. Ergo, it follows that to actually be a Marxist-Leninist, you have to join Balad, and the last elections left at least one Jewish Balad member looking silly when she claimed that an all-Arab list of Balad MKs would be a Bad Thing.

Sad, yes, even comic, quite so. But that doesn't make it meritorious to be Jewish and/or Israeli. It isn't. No one in their right minds would CHOOSE to be either Jewish or Israeli. Would they?
